Uh-Oh

Dark Horizons: MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television have announced that they are teaming up to develop, co-produce, and co-finance the television series “King Kong Skull Island” which they make clear is completely unrelated to the recent “Kong: Skull Island”.

The project is said to be a serialized, contemporary continuation of the classic, exclusively endorsed by Kong’s creator, and will boast a female-led and multi-cultural ensemble that delves fully into the wonders and horrors of Skull Island and its origins.

What "creator" of the original KING KONG is alive to exclusively endorse this?!?

Edgar Wallace, perhaps?

He died in 1932.

I wondered the same thing.

From info on other websites, it seems to be endorsed by the Merian C. Cooper estate. I wonder how many lawyers are involved.

I was joking, clearly.

Wallace wrote the original screenplay (much of which wasn't used). (Thank god. There's a reason his fiction is at best an amusing historical relic now.) He didn't come up with the original idea; that was Merian C. Cooper, who died in 1971, I think. And his estate's signing off on this gawdawful idea is NOT the same thing as an endorsement from "Kong's original creator." What an appalling idea.

That the two projects have the same name is not really surprising, however; kinda obvious, in fact.

"a female-led and multi-cultural ensemble". God forbid they leave anyone out.

Just about what I was going to say, Rick. Pandering has reached an all-time high.
