O the Times They Are a-Changin'

Somehow, the phrase "new Hello Kitty interactive retail experience" sums up just about everything I dislike about the modern world.

I know what you mean.

Sports Illustrated used to have a little feature called "This Week's Sign That The Apocalypse Is Upon Us." This qualifies.

My guess is that very few people under the age of 25 are very familiar with Lucy. And, while it pains me to say this, I don't think her humor has translated well to the 21st century.

I thought Lucy was hilarious when I was watching I LOVE LUCY during its original run. I don't care for those shows now, though.

I LOVE LUCY repeats continue, so her child audience is probably still intact...but Hello Kitty is going to fill the gift shop, and presumably its coffers. The notion of the wife as essentially the acerbic child of the husband is, thank goodness, not one of much currency any longer...even as a sitcom default.
