I saw in the article's comments that I'm not the only one who felt that the premise of the article (the sort of hippie-born-again style of early 1970s Christianity) was totally at odds with the album covers shown (almost all of which are white southern gospel). Plus the article completely overlooks the fact that almost every black soul/R'n'B act in the 1960s & 70s had their roots in the church and gospel music.

/But I have to agree--those album covers are really awful!

Exactly! Other than the Jane Fonda-wannabe with the Pam Dawber lookalikes exercising, those covers are amazing.

I guess "He Touched Me" might get someone arrested these days.
