Except for the Beyoncé reference, I knew all of those facts. Of course, being right here in the heart of Popeyes country, it's hard not to know the story of the late Al Copeland and his famous fried chicken franchise (not to mention his progression of steadily-younger wives or the massive amounts of really awful plastic surgery he had). I love to cook, but I never fry chicken. When I want fried chicken, I get Popeyes--their spicy fried chicken is the absolute best.

I had no idea Al Copeland was the guy behind Popeyes. We've eaten at a couple of Copeland's restaurants in New Orleans, and we've driven past his grave in Metairie.

And speaking of apostrophes, there is a delivery truck parked across the street from us right now advertising "Genuine Icey's" - whatever that is.

"Icey's what?" is what Jackie wanted to know.

My first encounter with Popeyes was in New Orleans (appropriate, I think), when I was attending a convention. We went there for breakfast. I ordered a ham and cheese biscuit. They deep-fried the ham. Uh...
