David Canary, R. I. P.

David Canary, Candy from 'Bonanza,' passes away at 77: David Canary could have played for the Denver Broncos. Instead, the picture-perfect cowboy turned to real broncos on the screen and pursued an acting career. After 27 episodes on Peyton Place, his breakthrough year would come in 1967. First, he was cast in the movie Hombre, a classic western and character study starring Paul Newman.

"Next time I'll drop you."-Great scence with Newman in HOMBRE at the stage way station. His brother was Glenn Canary. A darn good author who wrote paperbacks and short stories for MANHUNT and AHMM.

I have a couple of novels by Glenn Canary. Didn't have any idea that he was David Canary's brother. Great bit of trivia.

When I first had kids and stayed home with them, I enjoyed his performance on ALL MY CHILDREN, where he played twins.

Kelly Ripa played his daughter, apparently. I remember a young Canary on BONANZA.

Kelly Ripa was on the show for a good while. He played Adam (evil) and Stuart (good) Chandler, the twins on the show. There were probably other twins, too.

He was on another soap opera (possibly ANOTHER WORLD) prior to joining AMC. That's how I knew him since I rarely watched Bonanza.

I didn't care for his Bonanza role but he had a solid soap opera career.
